Klondike Derby, 2001
For the 225 Scouts and Scouters participating in the Eagle District 2001 Klondike Derby; 'A Snow Odyssey' on January 27 at Mendon Ponds Park, it was an event to remember! They will remember the 15 skill/challenge events; the GREAT RACE of 18 sleds in fresh snow; the breakfast sandwiches, popcorn, snocones, hot coffee and hot chocolate; The best-in-class organization and event coordination, the excellent winter weather and light snowfall; the fun, challenge and team work; the awards and recognition for a job well done; but most of all they will remember that this year’s Eagle District Klondike as sponsored, organized, and run by TROOP 10!!!!!!!!All of us can be extremely proud to have put on such a successful and memorable event! While it was possible due to the involvement of just about everyone in the troop, there are a few deserving special thanks: A really big THANK YOU to Jimmy , Fred and Mr. Liedkte for their superb leadership and organization, and proposing the idea of Troop 10’s sponsorship!
To all Event Coordinators, youth and adult, who organized and led such great skill events with enthusiasm and spirit! To Mr. Collard and Mr. Cottle who did a great and helpful job in running our First Aid Station!! To the moms who provided us with tasty sandwiches and treats for lunch!! We are grateful to Mr. Knab and Mr. Koek for keeping us well fed and warm with delicious and savory treats all day long---WOW, what a food tent!!! To the RIT volunteers who did whatever we asked of them, and did it well!! And to the others who helped in any way to make this a great event, THANK YOU!!!
Let’s not forget too, that our scouts from Troop 10, Pack 10, and Pack 105 brought home more than 10 awards, including 3 First Place Awards. The KLONDIKE DERBY was indeed an event to remember!!
