Excerpt from The 90 Year History of Troop 10 - 1940’s

During World War II, camp experiences were curtailed as leaders and village residents focused on the war effort. Various men in the village held the troop together during this time. The Rotary's sponsorship and the support of the community for the Scout troop enabled it to survive the war years of this decade.

When camping was resumed, a local woman allowed the boys to use her land, known as the Bentley property in an article in the Honeoye Falls Times, on Honeoye Lake for two summers.

Mrs. Bentley cooked for Dr. Nils Madsen at his home in Honeoye Falls. George Martin, who joined the troop in 1935 and became an Eagle Scout in 1938 at age 15, remembers camping at Art Burson's camp in the Adirondacks in 1942...
