Seabase RULES Oh Yeah !!!!
Thirty members of Troop 10 spent a fantastic week at Seabase High Adventure Camp in the Florida Keys enjoying the sun, the water, the under water world and of course, the volleyball courts. From snorkeling, fishing, scuba diving, kayaking, camping, and getting down in Key West--we did it all and then some! We got to meet some great people and saw scouting role models in action. Just can’t say enough about this wonderful trip--Seabase does RULE!Back to top
Adopt-A-Highway
Troop 10 sponsors a 3 mile section of Route 65, from the Thruway south along Mendon Ponds Park. We work clean up crews 4 times a year to keep the sponsorship, and Chris C. has organized the next session for Saturday, May 22 at 10 AM. We’ll meet at the second park entrance and work south to finish by noon. All workers are provided "cool’’ hardhats and orange vests; hours worked count towards service hours. And the boys learn "pick up" skills that can be applied around the house...Back to top
Laps, lanes, jumps and sit ups….
Monday, May 24th the troop will meet at the HS track rather than the Scout House. Some will work on Physical Fitness merit badges, some will work on rank advancement fitness measures and benchmarks, and there will be fun for all. (Fingers crossed for continued good weather!!) Scoutmasters will be on hand for conferences and boards of review as well as to finalize merit badge work.Back to top
Patrols, Patrols, Patrols…..
We now have six patrols: Nighthawks, Vipers, Omegas, Cobras, Roughriders and the Senior Patrol....all are active and have had some fun activities. Bike riding, woodworking, golfing and camping just to name a few. In their first patrol meeting, four new boys made rank advancement to Boy Scout; with that enthusiasm we can expect some friendly scouting competition from the Vipers and Nighthawks!!Back to top
Court of Honors
Our last Court of Honor of the year will be Monday, June 7th at 7PM. All parents and siblings are invited and encouraged to attend. Merit badge blue cards and rank advancements must be completed by end-of-meeting May 24th.Back to top
Water sports at the Stephens
We’ve again been invited to enjoy the Stephens’ acres and pond in June. The Nighthawk and Viper patrols will camp out the night of June 11th and the rest of the troop will join at 11 AM on Saturday the 12th. Boys can work on merit badges for canoeing, sailing and possibly water skiing, or just have fun in the sun! We’ll finish up by 6 PM, so the Stephens’ can start their construction project, lucky them!!!Back to top
WWW.Troop10.com
Andrew M. and Adam W., under the able guidance of Mr. McCunn have worked to update our website. By May 24th you should be able to log on and see the updates, which will include this newsletter, patrol activity information, Massaweepie information and photos and other cool information about our troop. They plan to keep it updated on a monthly basis with help from Mr. Muench.Back to top
Triple Eagle Court of Honors
Alex C., Chris C. and Nick M. will be awarded their Eagle rank on Monday, June 14th at 7 PM. The ceremony will take place in Guild Hall at the First Presbyterian Church of Honeoye Falls. All scouts and parents are encouraged to attend this momentous occasion! There may be few times in a scouting life to participate in a triple Eagle ceremony! (Class A uniforms, please!)Back to top
And Fronk makes Four !!!
Brian F. passed his Eagle Board of Review last week to become Troop 10’s fourth Eagle Scout of the year. AWESOME achievement!! Brian’s Eagle Court of Honor will be planned for the fall.Back to top
No Camp out at Car Show
Plans are not yet finalized by Ev Lewis, but if there is a car show this year, Troop 10 will again assist the Honeoye Falls-Mendon Rotary (our sponsoring organization) in serving food. Current plans are for the event to be held on Sunday, September 19th. We will NOT have a camp out the night before but will instead have a troop campout the following weekend. Sign up sheets for working the food booth will be posted at our first meeting in September.Back to top
Summer schedule
Plans are being finalized by your leadership for some summer activities. Possibilities include a monthly meeting for fun, sport and comraderie, a summer troop campout at Letchworth, or......so stay tuned for further details.Back to top
September camp out
Plans are also underway for a troop campout the weekend of September 25th. Details to follow shortly...maybe the Adirondacks or Letchworth??Back to top
Scoutmaster Scribbles
The events around the country and our community over the last several weeks have impacted us all. Especially at a time like this, I am thankful for scouting and the lessons in life it teaches the boys, as well as adults. Each week we recite the Scout Law; its 12 elements are a prescription for good character and it’s good character which makes the best citizens. A scout is: Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent. Take all 12 and call someone in the morning!!Back to top
