BALLAD OF AN EAGLE SCOUT
Hiking Scouts go marching by,Cheerful boys who laugh and cry,
Boys who mean just what they say,
Make them Eagles all some day.
Silver wings upon their chests,
These are boys, America's best,
One hundred boys will join the troop,
But only three in the Eagle group.
Trained to live off nature's land,
Taught to build, and lend a hand,
Boys who learn by nature's call,
Courage from the Oath and Law.
Silver wings upon their chests,
These are boys, America's best,
One hundred boys will join the troop,
But only three in the Eagle group.
Back at home a young mom waits,
Her Scout is set to review his fate,
He has just to pass this test,
Leaving her this one request:
Put silver wings on my son's chest,
Make him one of America's best,
He'll be a man they'll test him out,
Have him be an Eagle Scout.

Welcome to the Webelos II Cubs!
Did you ever have a party and prepare a meal for 50 people? Well, our 25 new Webelos II Cubs from Pack 10 and Pack 105 did just that on Saturday, December 7th! After some games and introductions to Troop 10 and our members, these great young scouts set to work preparing two soups and grilled cheese sandwiches for everyone. They were joined by some members of the Scorpion patrol who cooked two delicious desserts in dutch ovens. Several others were there to kick off our annual Christmas tree sales, and a great time was had by all! By 1:30, the boys were well fed, the equipment had been put away, and the Scout House was clean. What a way to hold a party! Special thanks to Mr. Sparacino, Adam, Brandon, Dan R., Brian G. and Tim G. for sharing their scouting skills and leading the program. And a word to the wise to current Troop 10 scouts: Be Prepared, for these new young scouts are talented, eager and capable! They will be 'crossing over' to Boy Scouts in February and will become members of our troop in early March!Back to top
Santa spotted on the Scout House Roof?
Several reports have come in from all parts of Honeoye Falls in the past few days, each reporting sightings of Santa Claus on the Scout House Roof. While the chimney has not been used in recent years, and there have been no footprints leading from the fireplace, and no presents left behind for all the good little scouts and scoutmasters, could it be that Santa has paid us a pre-holiday visit? Maybe he, too, is a Scout and, being Prepared, he wanted to check out the situation so his gift delivery on December 24th would go as planned? Or maybe Troop 10 is going to receive a special present this year? Well, this reporter got curious and staked out the Scout House on several occasions, and yes, Virginia, there was a jolly little 'ole man up on the roof! He shouted out a few "ho ho ho's" to me has he carried his supplies and crossed the roof to the chimney. Oh the excitement! A present for Troop 10? Had we been especially good this year?Santa did leave us a present this year! And he didn't need the chimney, for he left the gift right up on top.........a new roof for the Scout House! Our Santa was Mr. Ogden and his elves included Mr. Vojt and several elfish scouts and scoutmasters! Thanks to all of you for this wonderful gift and a "HO HO HO" to you too!

Scoutmaster Scribbles
This is the season of giving and of planning resolutions for the New Year. Each of us has special skills, and sharing them with others can be a great gift. One patrol recently had a meeting with a local lawyer who talked to them about the duties and responsibilities of being a US Citizen. Another will meet over the holidays to learn about woodworking, and actually make a gift item themselves. The local library needs middle school and high school students to share their reading skills with younger children in the afternoon programs. Younger scouts always need guidance in knot making, cooking, and general scouting skills. Scouts with less advancement need higher ranked scouts to assist them in their own advancement. Your skills are a great gift; why not make a resolution this year to share your skills and help another scout or another member of your community? That way the gift giving season will last 12 months, and you'll never run out of wrapping paper to make those gifts look pretty!Back to top
Clean up your act!
A couple of times recently, the Scout House has been left dirty and messy after an event. Scouts, please remember to leave the Scout House in the same, or better condition than you found it. This includes times when you are selling Christmas trees! If you make a mess with hot chocolate or cookies, please clean it up so the next person doesn't have to deal with your mess! No one likes to have to clean up a bathroom, but if you make a mess, find a way to get it cleaned up!Back to top

GETTYSBURG, PA.
Gettysburg Pa was the scene a battle that changed the course of the Civil War. A couple of years ago, a patrol from Troop 10 traveled to Gettysburg PA during the school break in April. The scouts camped right on the battlefield for 3 days and toured the battlefield and the town. Several scouts have expressed a desire to do this trip again. But we need a scout to coordinate and run the trip. Anyone who is interested in going, please contact Mr. Monnat. Estimated cost (including transportation and food) is less than $150.00 per scout.)Back to top
